I am a sleep psychologist specializing in helping moms fall asleep and stay asleep without medication.
Sleep problems can develop at any time in your life--especially during major transitions. Motherhood and being a woman is full of many changes that can cause sleep problems. Hormone changes, such as pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause all impact our sleep. Our life patterns and schedules shift too, whether it be the baby finally sleeping through the night (but we're wide awake, anxiously waiting for them to wake up), early morning school schedules, busy & stressful work weeks, late night sports practices, an empty house; every phase of life changes everything. The stress, anxiety, the shifts in routine, can all cause us to have disrupted sleep.
As a sleep psychologist I always ...

I see self-referred clients for insomnia and nightmare treatment, as well as take clients who are referred from sleep physicians and other therapists. Because part of my practice is for the treatment of severe anxiety, I also tend to see clients who have both anxiety and insomnia, including those who have previously tried CBT-I and not completed treatment because of complex fators, such as needing treatment modifications due to trauma, medical illness, or other complicating factors.
I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Penn State University. More can be found about my background at https://www.ayamapsychotherapy.com/about-therapist

You’re exhausted but can’t turn your brain off at night. Maybe you lie awake replaying to-do lists, worrying about what’s ahead, or counting the hours you have left to sleep. Some nights you fall asleep quickly, other nights you’re still wide awake at 2 a.m. You’re tired of tossing, turning, and dragging through your days.
I’m a health psychologist who helps people break the cycle between stress, poor sleep, and health problems. Stress, burnout, and emotional strain can lead to sleep difficulties, weight gain, high blood pressure, and trouble managing conditions like diabetes or chronic illness. At the same time, health issues can affect your mood, motivation, and daily habits — leaving you stuck in a frustrating loop.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) ...

I provide CBT-I in my practice on a regular basis, and find this to be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding treatments to offer. I spend 1-2 sessions thoroughly assessing sleep to ensure CBT-I is the right fit, to comprehensively understand your sleep issues, and develop a treatment plan that is thorough and uniquely tailored to you. While this is a structured treatment, it is important to be flexible and adapt the treatment to each person's needs.
My training and experience have included how to adapt CBT-I for people with chronic pain, ...

Chronic insomnia is very debilitating. During bouts of disrupted sleep, it can feel like your sleep system is broken and it will never work again. When you haven’t slept well in many weeks, it becomes difficult to think of anything else except “how can I or when will I sleep again?”
Unfortunately, during these periods of poor sleep we tend to engage in behaviors that may feel good in the short term (napping, spending excessive time in bed, going to bed very early, resting a lot, conserving energy, delaying living) but these coping behaviors actually perpetuate insomnia.
During CBTi, I will ask you to complete daily sleep diaries so I can get a very clear understanding of how you are currently sleeping and I want to know your “sleep story” – how your insomnia began, and what thoug ...

I'm Dr. Michelle Lyons and I treat insomnia and co-occurring anxiety in adults throughout CA and FL. It feels like your nights have become a battlefield where the harder you fight for rest, the further away it slips. You’re likely exhausted from laying awake for no good reason, watching the clock tick through the odd hours while tossing and turning in frustration. Whether it’s the disruption of repeated nightmares or the constant, nagging worry about whether you’ll get “enough” sleep to function, insomnia has a way of shrinking your world. You’ve likely tried everything, advice from doctors, suggestions from family, and every "trick" the internet has to offer, yet you still wake up feeling fatigued, with your mind stuck in a loop of thinking about sleep when you’d rather be thinking about ...
